The gear list

Everything I actually use, not everything I've been sent. If something is on this list it's because it survived real work.

Some links on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through them I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes what I recommend — if something is bad, I say so.

Desk

75% Hot-swap Mechanical Keyboard
Desk 9/10

75% Hot-swap Mechanical Keyboard

Gasket mount, hot-swap sockets, and a knob I use far more than I expected. The board I type every post on.

Hot-swap means I can change switches without a soldering iron, which matters a lot when you review keyboards for a living.

Lightweight Wireless Gaming Mouse

Lightweight Wireless Gaming Mouse

Sub-60g, no perceptible latency over its own dongle, and the battery genuinely lasts a working week.

The weight is the whole point. Going back to a 100g mouse now feels like dragging a brick.

27" 1440p 165Hz IPS Monitor
Desk 9/10

27" 1440p 165Hz IPS Monitor

The resolution and refresh sweet spot. High enough DPI to read code all day, fast enough that games feel right.

1440p at 27" is the size where you stop noticing pixels without needing to scale the UI.

Studio

USB Condenser Microphone
Studio 8/10

USB Condenser Microphone

What every voiceover on the channel is recorded through. Cardioid, onboard monitoring, no interface needed.

It is the cheapest single upgrade that makes a video sound less amateur. Audio matters more than resolution.

Open-back Studio Headphones
Studio 8/10

Open-back Studio Headphones

Open-back, flat response, and comfortable enough for a six-hour editing session.

Flat response means what I mix sounds the same on other people's speakers. Open-back means my ears survive.

Storage

1TB Portable NVMe SSD
Storage 9/10

1TB Portable NVMe SSD

Where raw footage lives before it gets edited. Fast enough to cut 4K directly off the drive.

Editing straight from the external drive removes an entire copy step from my workflow.
